Energy Saving Trust - Case Study

The challenge

The Energy Saving Trust (EST) is the UK’s leading impartial organisation helping people save energy and reduce carbon emissions. An anticipated reduction in government grant funding led EST to explore the marketability of several of its service offerings.

Quadrant was commissioned to evaluate the marketplace demand and proposition attractiveness of these services, and provide recommendations for how EST could best capitalise on the opportunities.

What did we do?

We used a combination of tried and trusted methodologies and tools to identify and analyse the market and EST opportunities, in line with its capabilities, including conducting:

  • Soundings and undertaking research amongst EST stakeholders and prospect customers
  • An evaluation of the Total Available Market (TAM), a Quadrant proprietary process
  • A competitor review and evaluation
  • A critique of the services’ business plans and capabilities

Conclusions and recommendations were designed to provide a clear direction for proposition and business development

What was the breakthrough for EST?

We were able to demonstrate to EST where the market gaps were for their services and how appealing customer propositions and differentiated positionings could be built. In addition, we identified several ‘quick wins’ to help EST take advantage of immediate income potential.

Testimonials

‘I found Quadrant’s approach very open and collaborative – they quickly got to grips with our situation and strategy, and delivered some very informative customer insights, together with a clear perspective of market opportunities and how we should best take advantage of them. We have now used them for three pieces of work; each has been of great value’
