Our Team

Here’s where you get to meet some of our people:

Peter Hayes Mike Bell Laura Mortimer William Annandale Katie Symes Simon Ross Tharun Nandini
Jonathan Ambrose Lynne Stainthorpe Mike Cobb Pauline Amphlett Peter Franklin Martin Blakstad Martin Clerici

Peter Hayes – Joint Managing Director

Peter is our science of management guru. After gaining his credentials at the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology, he became a veritable master in the art of marketing.

Peter has more than 10 years at Boots, Beecham, J&J and 3i, and near on 20 years consulting as a Quadrant founder. So he has an ever-expanding bag of solutions and ideas to call on, especially if it’s anything to do with new product and proposition development.

He says that as a born optimist, being a Sky Blues football fan is less stressful – but that it can make horse racing quite expensive.

Mike Bell – Joint Managing Director

With Mike, you’re getting years of expertise, from brand manager to board director at companies like Thorn Radio Rentals, venture capital group 3i and Gillette. We say he’s the best a man can get!

Mike helped to found Quadrant and has worked for most of our clients. But he really shines when he’s involved in business planning and channels to market – particularly sales forces, branch networks and contact management centres.

His special subject is anything that comes up in his local pub quiz – which means ‘everything’.

William Annandale – Managing Partner

William came to us in 1997 from a marketing career at Unilever and Grand Met. Taking on the responsibility for new business development, he has helped us achieve significant growth in new sectors. His specialist subjects are market entry design and implementation. And to show that we can both design and do, William has also acted as a hands-on locum general manager.

As house editor for our eZine, Dimensions, William also gets to show Fleet Street the talent they missed out on.

Simon Ross – Senior Consultant

Simon is our house intellectual – holding several post graduate qualifications in marketing and market research. But don’t let that put you off. He has a great sense of humour. And he’s happy to hob-knob with us lesser mortals, especially when the chocolate biscuits come out.

Beginning his career at market analysts Nielsen, Simon went on to manage customer insight programmes and functions for Anheuser-Busch, Britvic and Tesco.

He specialises in process redesign and strategic thinking and recently established our bespoke quality management system. In fact, Simon continually comes up with original approaches to processes, product propositions, partnering and corporate strategy.

Tharun Nandini – Senior Consultant

Tharun is our in-house helpline for MS-Excel and technology support. In addition to experimenting in Google labs, he loves collecting advertising taglines and TV commercials on YouTube. He is planning to visit every country on this globe (currently his count stands at 12)

Tharun began his career developing software for satellite communications systems. With Flextronics software systems, he handled responsibilities in pre-sales, technology consulting and software development. Bored of these extra-terrestrial stuff, he then moved to Manchester to get back to school.

Tharun graduated with merit from the MBA programme at Manchester Business School with specialisation in strategy and marketing. Tharun started with us as an MBA student intern and went on to join us in a full time role.

Richard Walne – Director of Health and Social Care

Richard is our expert in Health and Social Care. he has worked for many years in the health industry.

Jonathan Ambrose – Associate

Jonathan’s passion is for sailing. And you can often see him, at weekends, sailing his dinghy on Datchet Water or the Solent. Perhaps it was his geography studies at Cambridge that have given him such good navigation skills.

He left Cambridge for one of the finest training companies for brand management and business development, Unilever. It was there that Jonathan learned the basics of customer experience in food brands, which he later took to Cadbury Schweppes and Trebor Basset as marketing manager.

With his unique blend of brand management and business ethics, we have found his skills invaluable when advising our clients on how to manage their corporate-social responsibilities (CSR).

Mike Cobb – Associate

Mike is known as our turbo enthusiast, because of the speed of his uptake in interests as diverse as helicopter piloting, yacht mastering, gun dog training and saxophone strangling. He is highly valued by our clients in the increasingly specialised field of information security.

Mike is trained and qualified as a Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) and his interest in data security has led to him becoming a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP).

Pauline Amphlett – Associate

Pauline is our specialist consultant in name creation and intellectual property rights. She is a director of Brand Guardians IP and has been providing these specialist branding services to a wide range of clients for 20 years. Having worked both agency side with design consultancies and client side as a consultant for many and varied businesses she understands the pressures and nuances of building brands and identities.

Pauline works with many government departments, public bodies, service companies and consumer brands as well as providing support for creative agencies and their clients.

Peter Franklin – Associate

Peter brings a wealth of experience from the energy and utilities sector. His career in industry spanned senior roles in strategic planning, marketing and sales management in both oil and energy utilities. He has also been on the management teams of two successful energy start-ups and therefore brings hands on knowledge of the pressures facing rapidly growing organisations. Peter has contributed to the development of the industry itself as President of the SBGI (Society of British Gas Industries)

Through his firm, Enstra Consulting, he delivers industry analysis, decision support, business improvement, and proposition development to the oil, gas, electricity and water sectors both to the players in the industry as well as to companies looking to market into the sector.

Lynne Stainthorpe – Associate

We come to Lynne when we’re looking for The Big Idea.

Lynne has client-side experience on some of Britain’s best-known brands and has worked in many marketing roles, from brand manager to marketing director. She got her early training in brand development at Unilever. Then she went on to Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline) where she ran brands at the profit and loss level, and provided motivation for creative agencies to deliver their best output.

With her own consultancy, Big Idea Brand Management, Lynne delivers branding solutions that are provocative and practical for clients from retail to B2B.

Martin Blakstad – Associate

Martin is our media and telecoms specialist. He has worked for many years in the media industry at senior level and has most recently been focusing on media transformation from traditional to digital content delivery. He has consulted at France Telecom as well as other IPTV and mobile companies and at ITV as Head of New Media for ITV Worldwide. He is a frequent industry speaker and has advised on industry and regulatory issues as well as running several internet companies.

Martin is a non-executive director at Teachers TV, the Government funded digital broadcaster.

Laura Mortimer – Office Manager

Laura joined Quadrant after valuable customer service experience with P&O. She has been with us for 7 years and is now our Office Manager. A big thanks to Laura that the office runs so smoothly and our finances are under control. However, the recent task of installing Sage means she no longer lets us off lightly with our expenses claims.

Talia Pavlou – Team Secretary

Talia joined Quadrant in April 2010 after treading a well-worn path in financial recruitment, where accuracy was a vital skill. She provides all the administrative support as our team secretary and is responsible for making sure our presentations and reports are high quality. As the youngest member of the team Talia keeps us in touch with what is happening in the real world.
