Eligibility Requirements
To apply for a student visa in the UK, you must:
- Been offered a place on a course by a licensed student sponsor.
- Have the funds to support yourself and cover your course fees, depending on where you will study. It is £1,334 per month (for up to nine months) in London and £1,023 per month (for up to nine months) for courses outside of London.
- Be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. This is usually a level B1 if studying below degree level and B2 if studying at degree level, but certain exemptions apply.
- Have parental consent if you are 16 or 18.
Duration of Stay
You can usually stay in the UK for up to five years on your student visa if your course is degree-level. If below degree-level, you can stay for up to two years. Various options are available upon course completion.
Application Process
This student visa application is completed online, available both outside and within the UK. Submit up to six months before the course starts from outside the UK, with a decision usually within three weeks. From within the UK, submit up to three months before the course starts, with a decision within eight weeks.
Fees
- £363 if applying outside the UK.
- £490 if applying from within the UK.
