Eligibility Criteria
To apply for a UK student dependent visa, you must depend on one of the following:
- A government-sponsored student on a course longer than six months.
- A full-time student on a postgraduate level course (RQF level 7 or above) longer than nine months.
- From 2024, eligibility requires:
- A PhD or other doctorate.
- A research-based higher degree.
Dependent Definition
- Husband or wife: Use a marriage certificate for proof.
- Unmarried partner: Provide documents such as utility bills, council tax, and official correspondence linking you and your unmarried partner to the same address.
- Child under 18 years old who relies on you: Use a birth certificate for proof.
Financial Requirements
You or your dependent must meet financial criteria:
- £845 a month for up to nine months for courses in London.
- £680 a month for up to nine months for courses outside of London.
- Funds must be available for at least 28 consecutive days. Not required if already in the UK on a 12-month visa.

Apply for your student dependent visa online from within the UK simultaneously when extending or before current visa expires.

- Immigration health surcharge: Due to increase.
